Health Update

Well, seeing as how we're now in the official last stretch of my pregnancy, I thought I might update you on what the Doctor has been saying.

I got the results from some of my tests back and we were very pleased. The Quad screen test is to check for possible signs of a number of birth defects. We're very pleased to announce that this baby tested negative for Neural tube defects (including spina bifida), Trisomony-21 (Downs Syndrome), and Trisomony-18 (Edwards Syndrome).

We also recently had a test done to see if I have what they call gestational diabeties. I had to drink this seriously concentrated sugar water which might sound like a treat, but it was really intense. The Doctor said it's the same amount of sugar as you find in soda with half the amount of liquid. Yeah, super super concentrate. It was gross. I felt like I was going to be sick, but the test results came back and apparently my body can even process ridiculous amounts of sugar.

So, as far as we know, we're looking forward to having a happy healthy baby come November. Again, we feel really blessed to have the baby in the first place, and his and my great health have really just added to how happy we are.

Thanks to all the friends and family praying for our baby. We certainly owe you a lot.
